Overview

Medical Terminology DB is an educational glossary. You can browse definitions without creating an account or submitting personal information. This policy explains the limited information that may be handled through normal website operation.

Information we handle

Information you provide

If you email us with feedback or a correction, we receive the information included in that message, such as your email address, name, and message contents. Please do not send medical records, detailed health information, or other sensitive personal information.

Technical information

Our hosting provider may create standard server logs when a page is requested. These logs may include an IP address, browser type, requested page, referring page, and request time. Such information is generally used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

We also maintain an aggregate lifetime count and calendar-month count for each glossary definition. These counters are associated with the term, not with an IP address, account, browser identifier, or individual visitor.

The site does not require user accounts. We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage measurement and Google AdSense for advertisements as described below.

Information stored in your browser

The website uses your browser’s local storage to remember:

• Your selected light or dark theme
• Terms you choose to save
• A short list of recently viewed definitions

This saved-term and theme information remains on your device and is not transmitted to our database. You can remove it by clearing this site’s browser data. Analytics and advertising providers may separately use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies as described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage, such as page visits, sessions, approximate geographic region, and browser or device information. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies, including cookies beginning with _ga, to distinguish browsers and sessions.

Our implementation does not load Google Analytics on search-result or saved-term pages, removes query strings from the page location reported to Analytics, and disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals in the page tag. We do not send names, email addresses, saved-term contents, or entered medical search phrases to Google Analytics through this implementation.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on selected glossary pages. When an advertisement is requested or displayed, Google and its advertising partners may receive technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser or device information, the page you visited, referring information, and interactions with advertisements.

Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, limit repeated ads, detect fraud, and—depending on your location, choices, and consent—personalize advertising. Where required, a consent message may be shown before advertising technologies are used. Hosting and third-party services

We may use service providers to host and deliver the website. Those providers may process limited technical data on our behalf as necessary to provide their services and maintain security.

Google provides the Analytics measurement service and processes usage information under its own terms and privacy practices. You can learn more from Google’s privacy policy and Google’s information for sites that use its services.

Google provides the AdSense advertising service and may process information as an independent service provider under its own privacy terms. The ads and associated data practices may involve additional advertising partners selected through AdSense.

The site may request typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser retrieves those files, Google may receive technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy terms.

Retention and disclosure

Email correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to respond, maintain editorial records, or meet legal obligations. Server-log retention is determined by operational and hosting requirements.

We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the website or its users, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer.

Your choices

You can browse without contacting us, clear locally saved terms and preferences through your browser, and configure your browser to limit storage or third-party requests. Some preferences may not work if local storage is disabled.

You can also use Google’s browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics measurement on participating websites.

This general-audience educational website is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so the matter can be reviewed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes should be reflected on this page before or when they take effect.
