lymphostatic elephantiasis

Definition / meaning of lymphostatic elephantiasis

A condition in which tissue or a limb becomes very swollen and thick, and changes color. It is caused by a block in the flow of lymph and a buildup of fluid in tissues. Also called stage III lymphedema.
